Introduction: Why I Will Never Use AI In This Blog

Hello. Welcome to my blog.
I think I’ve been planning to do this since discovering the internet at college nearly 30 years ago, though it’s going to be very different now to what it would have been then.
Or is it?
The key thing for me in having a blog on my website is for you to get to know me and learn more about how I work.
When people do research about what creates “successful” outcomes in therapy, the key factor isn’t the type of therapy or the number of years someone has been qualified. It’s (almost) always the relationship that is created between therapist and client. That’s why finding the right therapist for you is so important.
And that’s the reason none of my blog posts will ever be written by AI.
It’s the easy option of course, and I could create more content with less effort that way, which would in turn result in my website placing higher in search results. In theory.
But the point of these posts is for you to get to know me. The real me. My aim is to be as authentically myself here as I try to be in my therapy room. I don’t subscribe to the view that the therapist needs to be a blank slate for the client to project onto. I believe in trying to create a real, warm, authentic, human connection with my clients. That’s how I work. Creating a safe space where you can be your true self, “warts and all”. Where you can cry without fear of judgement. Where your successes can be truly celebrated.
Of course, there are limits to this – a therapeutic relationship can never be a true friendship and we can’t be friends outside the therapy room. But the therapeutic relationship will be as warm and authentic as possible.
So this might not be lists of my favourite bands or lyrics or poems, as it might have been when I was 17. (Though a list of things that make me happy might be a crossover between the old and new me!) But it will be in my voice and I hope you will feel that you know me, at least a little, through what I write here.
With love,
Allison
